Any player in any position can be made the captain.
As an assistant coach of girls volleyball teams, when looking for a captain I look for the player who has the following qualities:

∙ 14y agoa captain goes at the beginning of the 1st game of the match to call the coin toss for their team. if they win, they decide if they want serve or side. if the match goes to 3 games the captain goes back for another coin toss.

∙ 13y agoThey are the ones that can communicate with the ref. Before the game, they call heads or tails in the coin toss to see who serves first. In addition, they are the ones who motivate and lead the team.

every single position on a volleyball court serves. there is no specific serving position
The captain's duties is to make sure the team does have any jewelry on while playing and there should be at least one captain on the court at times.

On a normal volleyball court: 6 players beach volleyball: 2 players
In Volleyball, you typically rotate clockwise- so if you were in the serving position (back right), the you'd move to the center back position. Where you stand exactly depends on the system of court placement you're running.
up to 2 per game. when actually on the court, only 1 can be floor captain.
The base line is the end line on both sides of the court.
there are six positions on the court. usually teams have 8-12 players, but only six can play at one time.
Position 1 is considered "right back" (If you're standing at the net looking at the endline, the left third of the court behind the ten foot line).
Volleyball does not have a quarterback position.
