Best Answer

"Dauntless" Dave Danforth of the Chicago White Sox led the American League with 9 saves in 1917.

He also led the league in games that year with 50 and games finished with 26.

Saves weren't official Baseball statistics until the 1970-'s or so. Otherwise, nobody led in saves in the 1910s.

Danforth is the correct answer.
