It depends on what you want.

If you're looking for low-priced accuracy, go for a 14 - 16 inch barrel. Contrary to popular belief, any barrel longer than that only makes the ball less accurate. It begins to bounce around the barrel, which clearly only makes it worse. ($30-$50)

If you're asking about general distance, either go with a Flatline or an Apex. Flatlines will give the ball backspin, which allows it to float a little. Apex barrels however, allow for you to choose the direction of the spin goes. These are two piece barrels, so having an 18 inch barrel in this case might be un-wieldly in close quarters, but it won't affect your accuracy when sniping. ($50-$80)

To many variables to answer the question. You have to specify the caliber, whether it is a rifle, revolver or pistol and if the barrel is standard twist rate for the caliber.

What is better a 22 with a long barrel or 22 with a short barrel?

A 22 with a long barrel would probably be better because it should go straighter.

How does a CO2 semi-auto paintball gun work?

Paintball guns fire spherical paint-filled balls by application of short bursts of rapidly expanding CO2 (Carbondioxide) gas. Upon disegage of the trigger mechanism, a slide is forced forward by means of a coil under tension, thus loading the paintball into the barrel. At it's final position, the slide opens a valve enabling the flow of gas. The gas forces the paintball down the barrel and accelarates it up to a speed of more or less 300 fps upon exit of the barrel. The backpressure of the shot causes the slide to return to it's original position, loading another paintball and engaging the trigger.

The friction a paintball goes through?

I'm not exactly sure what you're getting at but I'll try. Paintballs go through the hopper, feedneck, chamber, barrel, and then any accessory you might have after the barrel. In the hopper and feedneck friction is not an issue however in the chamber and especially the barrel it becomes more important. A chamber that fits too loosely around the ball can cause inaccuracy but a chamber too small can slow or warp the ball. You have to get as little friction as you can while maintaining a fairly tight fit. Same things apply to the barrel. That's why barrel come in different bore sizes, to best match the paintball. A second reason friction comes up in paintball debate is the sniper barrel length issue. Many companies advertise 20" sniper barrel!!! The trouble with that is a 20" barrel adds no more accuracy then a 14" barrel. All it does is add more friction and slows the ball. ^^^ agreed, in all reality the first 8" of a barrel is for accuracy, after that its all porting to quiet it down, iv seen a 8" barrel shoot just as accurately as a 20" but the 8 took a lot more co2 to use (due to the short distance the ball has to accelerate) and the 20 was much quieter (due to the vast amounts of porting

Is it better to drive a short distance and pay more for gas or drive longer and pay less for gas?

It would be better to drive short distance for more pay, because it would be hard to find gas where one could 'pay less'

Is there a lot of math involved in paintball ballistics?

I'll be short about this. Paintball ballistics are hit and miss at best. You have to take in varying pressures from heat & quantity of propellant, wind, gravity, and the face that you're shooting a liquid filled sack at best. The things just won't group up accurately unless you use a special ball made by Tiberus called the First Strike Paintballs, used in a rifled barrel. I've never used these so I can't tell you how much better they are than normal paint.

How long should a 308 sniper rifle barrel be FOR SHOTS AT 300 TO 310 YARDS?

Adequate shots can be made at that range with barrels as short as 16", but the longer the barrel the higher the muzzle velocity and the better the performance at range. Generally speaking, a rifle designated as a "sniper" rifle won't have a barrel length less than 22" or longer than 26", though there are exceptions - I've seen long-range shooting rifles with barrels 30" or longer, but they are rare. There is no hard-and-fast rule about velocity and barrel length, but you can assume 25 fps per inch of barrel and not be far off. The short answer is the same for any distance: "As long as you can comfortably carry and shoot."

If a paintball gun gets wet will it mess it up?

no, but if you use it in the rain, and the inside of the barrel gets wet then it can mess up your shot.iv been playing for years and have yet to hear of a board shorting from being in the rain, basically you have to dunk it in water and even then it is questionable as to if it will short out

In paintball what is an ion?

An Ion is short for the marker, the smart parts "ION." It is an electro-pneumatic marker with impulse barrel threads, ion feedneck threads, and reverse threaded regulator threads. The classic ion cost about $200, where the new ION XE costs about $220.

Where one can buy a ion paintball gun?

You can pick up a spider paintball marker at any local paintball dealer. You can also order them online from almost every paintball sales website. Spiders are a common and should be easy to find.
