For virtually every gross motor movement or sport, virtually every muscle in the body is incorporated. This also largely applies even for the mere acto of kicking itself.

However, obviously, in terms of prime isotonic muscular contraction during kicking, major prime movers include the hip flexors (rectus femoris, iliopsoas, sartorius, etc.), the knee joint extensors (the quadriceps, rectus femoris, etc.) and ankle joint flexors (soleus, gastrocnemius) and foot plantar flexors.
