I often have peanut butter and jelly as the peanut butter will give you protein and if you use a wholesome jelly it can give you the benefits of a fruit. Then I usually drink something like Gatorade or powerade with it, that is filled with electrolytes, but water is a good choice too. you don't want to fill up to much as this will cause cramping (as you probably know already). If you are talking about the meal the day before your marathon, something full of protein such as meats is a good choice and be sure to keep yourself hydrated all leading up to your marathon.

One should make sure they stay hydrated and rest up well before a marathon. One should also lather themselves with Vaseline or body lotion in places where one could possibly get chaffed.
