Arthur Miller would argue that writing was therapeutic for him. Aside for having a profound passion for writing, Miller also has an incredible state of emotion that needs to be expressed through the retelling of stories. As a Jewish immigrant, his parents were well off and lived a life of luxury. When the market crashed, however, the dynamic of his life changed and his family went through difficult times. Having experienced both sides of the socio-economic spectrum has taught Miller that he would want to earn a living doing something he loves. As for riches, they just come and go.
Arthur Miller wrote Death of a Salesman in 1949.
