It depends. To score a spare, you add 10+the next roll. A spare is when all the pins are down after the SECOND roll, regardless of the number of pins knocked down on the first roll. (If all pins are knocked down on the first roll, that is a strike)

You would still have the 12th frame to bowl, but at the point you mentioned you would have a 280 game and the possibility of a 290.

That would depend on what the count of the spare was. If it was ten strikes in a row, then 9 /, the score would be a 289 game. If it was an 8 /, it would be a 288 game and so on.
