There is Beale Street, which has a lot of concerts and food joints. Also, there is the Memphis in May festival, which has a lot of BBQ. Graceland is very interesting for people who have never been and for people out of town. There is also Mud Island, which has a museum on some of the history behind the Mississippi River, and The Pink Palace Museum is very interesting, and it changes its main exhibits once a month. Memphis also has Shelby Farms which is a great place for the outdoors person. At Shelby Farms you can fish, hike, ride horses, and even check out some buffalo.

Memphis is always a great destination for road trips because of the surrounding areas. You can check out the casinos in Tunica and if you want to experience something different, DeSoto county in Mississippi is fun too; all a short drive away. There are a lot of small towns that encompasses southern charm. I know that sodesoto.com is a great resource for things to do in DeSoto County. I'm sure there is one for Memphis too.
