Burton Snowboards
Jake Burton founded the world's first snowboard factory in 1977.After years of modifying snurfers, the precursors to modern snowboards, Burton decided to open a factory and build his own product. With the goal of making just 50 boards a day, Burton and two friends went into business. Today, Burton snowboards, boots, bindings, clothes and accessories are sold in shops around the world and on the manufacturer's website. Like other major Snowboarding companies, Burton makes snowboarding movies featuring its sponsored athletes. It also created the "Learn To Ride" (LTR) program, a series of products and lessons targeting beginning snowboarders. LTR centers are located at over 140 resorts around the world.
