A 1954 Bowman Ted Williams card number 66A has a book value of about $3.000.00 in near/mint -mint condition, and is the most valuable card of the 1954 Bowman baseball set. In 1954, Ted Williams was signed only with Topps. When a Williams Bowman card showed up, either Topps or Williams or both had it pulled from production, making this card especially scarce. The 1954 Bowman Ted Williams card 66 was replaced with Jim Piersall (card number 66B)
There were no Topps cards made for Mickey Mantle in 1954, and 1955 because Bowman had an exclusive baseball card contract with Mickey Mantle. In 1956 Topps purchased the Bowman company and ended their rivalry in the sports card market. In 1989, Topps once again began production of cards with the Bowman name.
A 1955 Topps Roberto Clemente rookie card number 164 has a book value of about $2,200.00 in near/mint -mint condition, and is the most expensive card of the 1955 Topps baseball set.
