Yes. Fleer A manufacturer of sports cards, produced baseball cards from 1959 to 1963, as well as several football sets and a single basketball set in this same era. In 1981, the company once again began production and was a leading manufacturer in the market. Fleer was bought by Rite-Aid pharmacy founder Alex Grass and his son in 1999. Upper Deck purchased the Fleer name and its die-cast toy business in 2005 for $6.1 million dollars. Fleer at the time was reported to be $40 million in debt.
The Fleer company produced baseball cards from 1959 to 1961, and in 1963. The entire first 80 card set, issued in 1959 featured Ted Williams. In 1981, the company once again began producing cards. After bankruptcy in 2005 the Upper Deck company resumed making cards under the Fleer name. Major sets were issued in 2006, and 2007 under the Fleer name but I'm not aware of any since.
