There is no official name for it, it is just used so players can walk or ride on it to the fairway, so they don't have to walk or ride through the thick rough. Mainly for cosmetic purposes.

No, the rules of a long drive contest are first ball and it must come to rest in the fairway.

What comes after 3 off the tee if you hit this shot out of bounds?

Well, hitting out of bounds is a one shot penalty and you hit the next one from the same place. If you hit 3 off the tee OB, then the next one would be 5 off the tee and 6 from the fairway or rough etc.

Do you have to use a golf tee every time you tee off or can you just play from the ground?

You do need to T-off and it's only when you first start. The first stroke on each hole is done from the Tee (officially, teeing ground), where the player can use a tee (a small wooden or plastic peg) to put his ball on, which makes the tee shot easier. After teeing off, a player hits the ball again from the position at which it came to rest, either from the fairway (where the grass is cut so low that most balls can be easily played) or from the rough (grass cut much longer than fairway grass, or which may be uncut) towards the putting green.

When do you use a three wood in golf?

A 3 wood can be used from the fairway or from the tee. It depends how far you hit the ball on when you would use it. You could use it from the tee because it doesn't go as far as the driver, and it is easier to control. You could use it from the fairway on long par 4's or par 5's. Some people use it to chip with, but you should perfect this shot before you try it.

If your friend gives you his ball by mistake and you hit it from tee block can you play that hole with his ball and go back to yours at next tee block?

Yes, it doesn't matter who's ball you use. The only time it matters is if you hit their ball from the fairway.

What is a rough golfing area?
