Balls used in an NCAA-regulated College Football game are roughly 10 1/2 to 11 1/2 inches long. The circumference of the longer side of the ball is approximately 28 inches, and the circumference of the shorter part of the ball is about 21 inches.
The average is approximately 11.5 inches long by 6.7 inches in diameter.
An NCAA football differs from the NFL ball in that it has two 1-inch white stripes that are three to three and one-quarter inches from either end of the ball and located only on the two panels adjacent to the laces.
It can be up to one-half inch shorter but only slightly narrower than NFL balls.
According to Section 2 of the CFL Rulebook:
" The game is played with a ball made of Horween Red leather in four panels which shall be inflated to a pressure not less than 86 kPa (12 1/2 psi) nor greater than 93 kPa (13 1/2 psi). The circumference of the long axis shall be not less than 705 mm (27 3/4 inches) nor greater than 720 mm (28 1/4 inches + 2 mm). The circumference of the girth or short axis shall be not less than 530 mm (20 7/8 inches) nor greater than 535 mm (21 1/8 inches - 1 mm). The length of the long axis shall be not less than 280 mm (11 inches) nor greater than 285 mm (11 1/4 inches - 1 mm). The total weight of the ball shall not be less than 395 grams (14 ounces - 1940 mg) nor greater than 425 grams (15 ounces - 290 mg). The exposed laces shall be not more than 110 mm (4 3/8 inches - 1 mm) in length and 30 mm (1 1/8 inches + 2 mm) in width. "
The size and weight of the ball have been defined under the law 5 of cricket. The standard size of the ball should be between 8 & 13/16 inches to 9 inches (22.4 to 22.9 cm) in circumference. The weight of the ball is determined between 5.5 to 5.75 ounces (155.9 to 163 grammes).
