No. Canada has no national bird
According to research conducted by the Canadian Lacrosse Association (CLA) the game of Lacrosse was "declared" to be Canada's national game in 1859. However, there is no record of who made the declaration or under what circumstances. The CLA admits that no government record of such a declaration exists, and blissfully ignores the fact that Canada was not even created until July 1, 1867. Nevertheless, the CLA blithely quotes a reference to July 1, 1859, as having been the first Dominion Day. Go figure! As early as 1925, the Canadian Amateur Lacrosse Association itself recognized hockey as Canada's "other" National Game. However, it was not until May 12, 1994, that any sport received official recognition as Canada's "National Sport." On that date, the National Sport Act (Bill C-212) received Royal Assent. The National Sport Act officially recognizes Hockey as Canada's National Winter Sport and Lacrosse as Canada's National Summer Sport.
Hockey is one of the national sports in Canada. The first organized game was played indoors on March 3, 1875.
