The only nick name the organization has had is the Patriots. The team was originally known as the Boston Patriots The team was renamed the New England Patriots in 1971.They got the name from England. (HISTORY CHECK) When America went to war with England to gain independence, England fought under the nickname "The Patriots" (hints the name "New England Patriots"). Funny how stuff like that works, huh?

They were forced to settle in Fox-borough and decided to drop "Boston" from their name. They tried Bay State Patriots but the name was rejected by the NFL and on March 22, 1971 they became the New England Patriots.

I assume by Patriots you mean the New England Patriots of the National Football league. In 1959, the team was introduced as the Boston Patriots but in 1971 the team was relocated to Foxborough, Massachusetts where they were renamed as the New England Patriots.
