What is the difference between a circlular golf ball ad a dodecohedron golf ball?

All golf ball manufacturers attempt at least to make round or circular golf balls. The term dodecohedron (not certain of the spelling) is refering to a dimple pattern of a golf ball. Two different golf balls for example can be identical in size and roundness but each may have a distinctly different dimple pattern. If you look closely at a golf ball you can see that the dimples on most golf balls ,but not all, have varying sized dimples, they may vary in depth as well as diameter. I think Maxfli used the term dodecohedron in a marketing campaign describing the dimple pattern of there golf ball.

If a golf ball has been used would it go farther than a brand new ball?

No, most likely it would go pretty much the same distance unless it has some damage. You probably wouldn't be able to notice much of a difference unless you are a very consistent striker of the golf ball. However, if you were using a real old school gutta-percha type ball then it would go farther after use. This is because the ball did not have dimples and after use it developed nicks and scratches that served as dimples. The reason dimples allow a golf ball to fly farther is a whole other topic however.http://www.howstuffworks.com/question37.htm

Does the surface of a ball affect momentum?

Yes, the texture of the ball's surface affects the way it flies hence affecting the ball's momentum through the air. The most common application of this is in golf, where some very highly trained physicists are hard at work creating new and innovative shapes for the dimples in a golf ball.

What type of golf ball and a junior player?

For Juniors, most recommend either pinnacle "Junior" balls, or any type of low dimple women's ball. Any ball with low dimples should help, unless the player is hitting them very well, then you should go up in dimple count.

How can one make custom golf balls?

Golf ball's cores are made out of peach cores and the mantle of the golf ball is made of metal string <silly> A golf ball starts out as a latex-filled rubber ball for a core that is progressively wound with a thin rubber strip. After the core is completely wrapped in rubber and is the appropriate diameter, it is placed into an injection mold and a polymer covering with dimples is added.

Why are there dimples on a basketball?

Golf balls have the tiny little craters in it so that it would not become a smooth object and roll past a TEE marker. If the ball was round with no craters on it and you were to swing with a nine iron or something of this capatable and you were aiming say for the 18th par and you most likely would never be able to get close enough to the goal for fear of rollover and or rollby moves. Craters thus enhance the movement of the ball to land and not move and reduce the movement away from desire target.
