The most popular location to travel to in the U.S., based on number of visitors in 2010, was either Orlando or NYC. The actual winner is somewhat contested. This is according to a May 24, 2011 NY Times article "Orlando Beats NYC to 50 Million Visitors, Officials Say." Mayor Bloomberg of NYC had earlier announced that NYC had 48.7 million visitors in 2010, but Mayor Dyer of Orlando later announced that Orlando had 51.45 million visitors that year. That Orlando number is contested because some say it includes Orlando suburbs and not just Orlando the city. So, it's kind of a toss-up. Either way, both areas are popular travel destinations.
