As of 2011 the youngest matador was Michelito Lagravere, 14 years old. He first fought a young bull at 4 1/2 years of age. He became a novillero (semi-professional) at age 11. His performances have been only in Mexico and a few South American countries and has not performed in Spain because of the age restriction of 16 years of age minimum. There is no age restriction in Mexico.

He is from Merida, Mexico, and his father is a matador and his mother manages a bullring.
