There is No answer to the maximum salary for an MLB team. Teams can spend as much as they can afford. That is why we see teams like the Yankees stacked with high market players whereas teams like the Marlins have to keep track of every penny to put out a half way decent team. This has been a debate since Bud Selig became the commissioner of the MLB. I personally think the MLB should have a salary minimum and maximum so that teams can have equal rosters much like the NFL.
