The Marathon
The only event at the very first (classical) Olympic games was the Stadion foot race. A Stadion was about 200m, and women were not allowed to compete, so it would be fair to say that the Men's 200m is the oldest ongoing Olympic event, and therefore Athletics the oldest ongoing Olympic Sport.
800 Meter Freestyle
An athlete is a person--a sports competitor or someone who practices athletics. I think you mean an event. The Olympic event that's named after a battle is the marathon.
No such event
For men it is the 50 kilometer walk and for women it is the 20 kilometer walk.
Depends on what the question refers to: The longest "running" event is the Marathon, but the longest event in terms of distance in the athletics is the Mens 50 kilometre walk (but you certainly aren't allowed to run in that). Alternatively there are a whole series of events that have been included in every Olympics, therefore there is no single longest running event in terms of being at every Olympics.
The women's singles tennis event was won by Charlotte Cooper of Great Britain. She was the first woman to win an Olympic event in history.

The Pentathlon is one of the hardest and longest Olympic events. It means combining 10 different activities into one event.
yes swimming is an olympic event
In the London Olympic Games of 2012 204 countries took part, plus four independent athletes who took part under the Olympic Flag. 164 of those counties competed in at least one men's athletics event, and 159 counties entered women into at least one athletic event.
