The tight end is an offensive player. He has two jobs. On running plays, he blocks for the running back. On passing plays, he is a receiver, i. e. he catches passes. Since he is usually bigger and slower than the wide receivers, he does not usually run deep routes down field but shallow to moderate depth routes. The defensive end's job is to sack the quarterback or tackle the runner.
He usually block in outside runs and sometimes is send to run reverses, lastly he also can be send to catch passes

Outside containment. To make the opposing teams "ball carrier" stay inside the defense so the linebackers can do their job tackling. Also, to rush the quarterback.
The Defensive in football is usually outside coverage meaning makes sure no one gets to outside of him so they are not able to run the boundry

A defensive lineman is any of the down positions on the defensive side of American football. Although alignments vary, the most popular consist of either 3 or 4 down linemen.

On a 3 lineman set, there are 2 Defensive Ends which bookend an often large Nose Tackle.

In a 4 lineman set, the Ends bookend 2 Defensive Tackles.

The primary job of a defensive lineman is to gain penetration past the line of scrimmage to disrupt an offensive play. The best results are a sack on the quarterback or tackling a ball carrier for a loss of yardage.

There are several variations of defensive lineman: Nose guard, Nose tackle,Tackle, End

Generally, their job is to attack the offense from the outsides/"ends" of the offensive front line. They go after the quarterback on passing plays, and stop the runner on running plays. One of their key functions is to secure "outside containment", not letting runners get to the outsides of the field after receiving the ball in the backfield (from a QB hand-off or a reverse play).

Again, these responsibilities are general. It can vary with different defensive plays.

the main objective for a D lineman is to plug up your whole and make sure that nobody has a free shot to go onto your linebacker and block him so he is unable to make the play. your main job is to protect your backers and make sure they don't get blocked

What are the positions in pro football?

It depends on what formation. On offense you will have a center, two guards, two tackles and a quarterback. You will also have 5 other players that can be runningbacks, tight ends, split ends, and wide recievers. Six of these players must be on the line of scrimmage or you will get a flag for illegal formation. On defence you will have defensive ends, defensive tackles, noseguards, linebackers, cornerbacks, and safties. Defensive ends are on the end of the defensive line. Tackles line up in between the defensive ends. Noseguards line up on the center. Linebackers line up about four yards behind the line. You will usually have a middle linebacker(MLB), a right outside linebacker(ROLB), and a left outside linebacker(LOLB). You will have cornerbacks outside covering wide recievers and split ends. You will have a safety about 10 yards behind the line. You can have two safties. These are the positions run, but one team can only have 11 on the field.
