You cannot directly tone muscles, nor target directly the toning of single muscles. Getting that "toned" look comes from being in a caloric deficit (eating slightly under maintenance calories), coupled with a good Weightlifting regime. Unfortunately, some people store more of their body fat in different areas sometimes making certain muscle "tones" harder to achieve.

When it comes to exercise, tone is important because it strengthens your muscles and makes them more defined. While working out, it is important that you do strength training in order to tone your body.

Good muscle tone helps to prevent injuries that may occur unintentionally. They help the bones to stay in place and do the job that theya re supposed to do. They help the body to move the way that it was designed to move.

Muscle tone refers to the continuous and passive incomplete muscle contraction. Good muscle tone is important because it helps in keeping the body in a certain posture or position.

What is the medical term meaning abnormal tone?

Dystonia is an abnormal condition of muscle tone. Some specific types of dystonia include atonia (no muscle tone); hypotonia (too little muscle tone); and hypertonia (too much muscle tone). Increased muscle tension can cause the muscle to go into spasm. This is called tetany. I don't know which term of muscle tone you are referring to, but I have cerebral palsy, so I can answer this easily. There are two terms that commonly describe abnormal muscle tone. One is hypertonia and the other is hypotonia. In hypertonia, too much tone enters the body. Muscles become stiff and sometimes stuck in certain positions (e.g. walking on the toes). In hypotonia, there is not enough tone to perform certain tasks. Muscles may act floppy or uncontrolled. Tone is very powerful, so a person who has problems typically cannot overcome it on their own.
