There are three sets of dots on the approach:

  • First set located about 15 feet from the foul line
  • Second set is 12 feet away
  • Third set is approximately 3 inches away.

Some centers do not use targeting dots at the further levels.

The approach area is 15 feet long from beginning to foul line. From foul line to the head pin (#1 pin) is 60 feet.

On a USBC regulation lane it's Sixty feet (60') +/- 1/2" from the foul line to the center of pin spot.

The foul line is 3/8" to 1" wide and the approach is 15' minimum.
