In the old days, a 45 was 0.45 wide -- then came the bullets known by mm. Guess: a 22 is 0.22 inches wide, which is different from a 9mm. Notice, I have no idea how long the bullet is.

Can a 22 magnum shoot 22 long rifle bullets?

NO! The .22 mag case is larger in diameter than the .22 long rifle case thus the chamber of a .22 mag gun is too large for a .22 long rifle bullet. If the bullet does fire, the case will split with unpleasant and innaccurate results.

Can 22 LR be used in a 22 Mag firearm safely?

NO. .22LR is smaller in diameter than .22 Magnum, and is likely to split the cartridge case, and accuracy will be very poor.

Will a 22 long rifle shoot a 22 magnum bullet?

No. Not only is the .22 magnum more powerful, it is longer, and LARGER in diameter. It will not chamber in a .22 LR firearm. There are a few revolvers that aremade with 2 different cylinders- one in 22 LR, one in 22 Mag, that can be swapped- but the cartridges themselves cannot be used interchangeably. A .22 Long Rifles actual bullet is smaller than a magnum, not to mention the case diameter. So you wont be able to chamber a .22 Mag in a .22 LR...A .22 LR will chamber in a .22 Mag but due to the case diameter it will possibly split(possibly injuring the person shooting the gun,or damaging the firearm),and the bullet rattles around for about 3" in most gun barrels before it stabilizes, causing leading, premature barrel wear, and loss of accuracy...Dont Try It!!!

Can you shoot long rifle bullets out of a 9422 xtr 22 magnum?

No. .22 LR and .22 WMR (magnums) are not interchangeable. The .22 Mag is ot only longer, but larger diameter bore and cartridge case. If the LR round fires, it is likely to split the case, and accuracy will suck.
