The actual date that Australians started playing tennis is not widely known. However, Tennis Australia first started administering the sport in 1904. The first Australian Open was played the following year.

Does anyone know what dates are going to be set for the 2010 Australian Open Tennis Tournament? It's been something of a battle to find these dates (I was also anxious to know), but I eventually found them on the Tennis Australia website under the section about employment for ballkids in the 2010 tournament! Anyhoo, according to that weblink, the dates are 18 - 31 January 2010.
