A good way to score as a beginner is to stop at double par. If the par score for a hole is 4 then try to get 8, (double 4), or less. With that being said a good score for a female beginner would be less than 144. The important thing is to enjoy the game so instead of beating balls around the course all day and getting frustrated, pick up and move to the next hole after reaching double par.

∙ 16y agoAfter having played 20 or so rounds a new player can expect to be scoring in the high 110's or low 120's. After 20 hours of lessons and 40 rounds one can expect to be scoring in the 95~110 range. Of course, every person improves at a different rate, some better, some worse. The key is to relax, enjoy yourself and focus on finding a swing that is comfortable, natural and repeatable.

Par on many courses ranges from 62 to 78.
Then how difficult is the course? Some are very difficult and some are easy so there is and adjustment formula.
So a "Scratch" golfer will be expected to shoot par after the adjustment formula is applied
The key word is "Scratch" meaning he has no handicap rating.
So when you go to the course check the par of the course and a very god golfer will do that good or slightly better.
