For Division 1, Virginia Tech has the highest raking in Virginia for college softball and is currently ranked number 52nd in the nation. Their record last season was 37-20.

The University of Virginia is ranked 65th in the nation with a losing record of 24-31 last season.

In West Virginia, West Virginia Wesleyan is ranked 20th in the nation for Division II schools, with a 48-8 record, dominating their region with a 38-3 in-region record.

West Virginia State, another Division II school, had a winning record on the season and was ranked 10th in the Atlantic region.

Christopher Newport University, a Division III public liberal arts college in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, was ranked 3rd in the nation for Division III schools last season with a 38-12 record.

Virginia Wesleyan is ranked 25th in the nation for Division III schools with a 29-11 record last season.
