A mile is approximately 1.60934 kilometers, so a mile and a quarter (1.25 miles) can be calculated as follows: 1.25 miles × 1.60934 km/mile = about 2.012 km. Therefore, the track team ran approximately 2.01 kilometers during practice.

Assuming the track team is made up of boys and girls only: if 1/8 is boys, 1 - 1/8 = 7/8 are girls of which there are 14. So 7/8 of team = 14 => team = 14 / (7/8) = 14 x 8/7 = 16. There are 16 students on the track team.
