What is A1 gp car top speed?

The on-screen speedo's top speed incates 270 km/h so I would imagine 260 km/h would be possible. This speed would rarely be achieved during any race. The track with the longest straight would be a good indicator of the cars top speed.

How fast can a car go?

It depends on the car. Some cars have a top speed of about 100 miles per hour or a little more. Most cars will have a top speed of more than 100 MPH. Some high performance cars, such as the Corvette, have a top speed of closer to 200 MPH, and some really high performance, or exotic, cars have a top speed of more than 200 MPH. All that said though, some cars have a top end limiter. For instance, my car has an advertised top end speed of 185, but it has a top end limiter which limits the speed to about 170.

How do formula one cars reach their top speeds?

F1 cars never really get up to their absolute top speed as even in qualifying, they wouldn't get to their max speed. To get to high speed at tracks like Monza and SPA during a qualifying race weekend session. Low downforce with aero stream can help to get a F1 car to it top speed at the track. For off track, it those with a long enough road bearing in mind tyres can explode and to have enough fuel to get to speed without effecting performance.

Why are carburetors still used in drag cars and muscle cars as oppose to these cars using an electronic based fuel delivery system?

You forgot to add: NASCAR race cars also have carbs. Fuel injection systems simply do not have the power or top speed. Most of the "muscle cars" from the 70's (and other cars), all had Carbs back then.

What does 500 signify in the Indianapolis 500?

The length of the race, 500 miles. When the race was founded in 1911, it was intended as an endurance race. Back then, the top speed for the typical car in the race was about 20-25mph. At that speed, it would take 20 hours to complete 500 miles! With technology, faster cars and things like actually paving the track, the race got faster and faster... with current speeds closer to 230mph, the race completes in less than 2 hours!
