Well, if we talk about individual highest, it is 400 runs made by Brain Lara in test cricket. The highest total of a team in test cricket is 761. Edit : The highest team score in Test cricket is in fact 952/6 by Sri Lanka against India, made in 1997 at R. Premadasa Stadium, Sri Lanka. Sanath Jayasuriya made 340 in that innings, and he scored a world record partnership for the second wicket with Roshan Mahanawa which is 576 runs. At the time it was also the highest record partnership for any wicket but later another pair of Sri Lankans, Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara extended that to 624 which was fro the 3rd wicket.

South Africa's highest tenth-wicket partnership in Test cricket is 103 runs, achieved between Tuppy Owen-Smith and Sandy Bell in July 1929 against England. Owen-Smith finished the innings with a Test innings best of 129 runs. Bell's contribution of 26 runs was his best in all Test matches.
