Angling etiquette describes how one should behave when fishing alongside other anglers. It is basically common sense and mutual respect :
It is particularly important to obey angling etiquette when flyfishing rivers especially if anglers are using different techniques, for example, if some anglers are fishing nymphs and working a pool upstream while other anglers are fishing streamers downstream. Generally the first angler in the pool has right of way.
When fishing a river an angler should keep moving through a pool if there are other anglers witing to fish the pool behind them.
One angler should not fish to close to another angler.
If one angler hooks a fish then other anglers should allow them every opportunity to land that fish.
When fishing around other anglers an atmosphere of comraderie should prevail and anglers should be generous towards other anglers especially those of less experience.
