During my first pregnancy, I experienced nipple tenderness before the breast tenderness. However, there are a lot of women that get that during their normal monthly cycle. It is caused by a hormonal change. It might be the heralding of your monthly cycle or it could be your first symptom of pregnancy. Nipples tend to rub up against things (Bras, shirts....) so they would feel more tender anyway. I know it is a bit of a vague answer, but many pregnancy cymptoms can mirror premenstral symptoms. I never got these symptoms during PMS, so just judge by the way your cycle normally runs. You know your body better than anyone. If this is different than it normally is for you, it could be a sign that you are pregnant.
