The word "streaker" dates back to pre-feudal Europe when the commoner was primarily ruled over by a selection of higher caste members headed by the Thane, from the common house of the village. (hence the "house of commons" currently in Britian.) In the small establishment of Horstede, England, named "little Horsted" to distinguish it from another horsted farther north, it is believed there was a farmer named Mesewelle Streeker. He was accused of exposing himself publicly, though he insisted he was in his home. Regardless he was punished according to the local law, by placing him in the stocks without his garments on, during a festival celebrating the Year of Conquest. Streeker managed to loose his bonds and ran through the crowd running to his hovel. hence the phrase "Running like a streaker through a festival."
