∙ 14y agoA jump shot in basketball is where the shooter is completely off the ground when he shoots the ball to the basket (both feet are off the ground at the same time the ball is shot). There are a few different types of jump shots. Layups, dunks, and floaters are not considered jump shots even though the player is completely off the ground when he releases the shot in those cases. The main ones are the "jay" (mid-range shot), the three pointer, and the basic short range shot.

∙ 9y agoA jump stop is when a player literally jumps to a stop before ceasing to dribble the basketball, making sure to land with both feet simultaneously. The benefit of this is that the player then has the option of using either foot as the pivot foot. If the player steps to a stop, the pivot foot is automatically the last foot with which the player stepped before dribbling ceased.

Now the set shot is were you do not jump as high. set shots are typically slower releases than jump shots as well. for a set shot you square your body(feet, arms) to the basket bend the knees and shoot
