A foul in badminton, is either:

  • serving straight across the court ( you must serve into the box opposite to you)
  • Hitting the shuttlecock out of the court.

Also,

serving with one foot on the middle line, serving with your foot over the line (unless doubles tram line), serving with one foot off the ground, serving with the racquet head pointing upwards, or having the racquet head above your waist. If your racquet passes the net before the shuttle lands on the ground it is also considered a foul.
