6.6 seconds is considered below average for a 40 yard dash for a 12 year old boy. To improve this I would just practice sprints and do leg workouts such as squats.
A twelve year old should run the 50 yard dash in 7.4 to 8.2 seconds
4.6 or 4.7 would be fast don't listen to that guy. 6.4 would be average, 6.2 would be good, and 5.9 would be hella fast.

If your in good shape, a 5'7 would be a great time. anything under 6 is to be proud of. and remember. Its all about acceleration in a 40.
A 10 yard dash time is really not a good judge of your speed, the distance is too short. A 40 yard dash is what you need to get a good estimate of your abilities. but I'll give you time for both 40 yard dash-between 5-5.8 seconds 10 yard dash-between 1.3-1.5 seconds
a 10 year old boy can run about 12-15 mph depending on the boy but I am very fast so I can run about 20-22 mph [I run the 40 yard dash in like 4.9]

im 18 and run a 4.47 and im one of the fastest in my age group so 5.9 would be super fast. 6.2 would be fast. 6.4 would be average

idk what the average is... but im gonna be 15 in october.. i run it for football, my average is somewhere around the 6.64 range . i think my best was last year, at 6.35 or so.
