ECW had a few different death match stipulations during its run. One of the most recognizable was the no-rope barbed wire death match where, as the name suggests, they would take down the ring ropes and replace them with strands of barbed wire. This particular match was made famous by a match between Terry Funk and Sabu which saw, among other things, both men fall into the wire several times, Sabu closing a gash on his arm with tape, and the ring crew spending ten minutes AFTER the match cutting Sabu and Funk free from the wire they had entangled themselves in. Another barbed wire ropes match between Beulah and Bill Alfonso is remembered as the bloodiest ECW match of all time.
Another variation of the death match featured in ECW was the Texas death match, which is much more akin to a Last man Standing match. In this match, you must still pin your opponent, but after each pin, your opponent must return to their feet by the count of ten.
