The diameter of a discus ring is 96.5 inches, the rope till need to measure 48.25 inches in order to create the perfect discus-ring diameter. To ensure proper measuring, measure from the spike to the tip of the rope.Step3 Drive the spike. If the temporary discus ring is being placed on a soft surface, drive the spike into the ground to hold. If the surface is hard, have someone hold the spike in the center of the proposed ring.Step4 Take a walk. Pull the rope tight and being to walk in a circle. Using the can of spray paint, paint the ground at the tip of the rope.Step5 Erect the cage. By track and field regulations, throwing competitions must have a cage with a net surrounding the ring.
