The above answer is technically right, however, I am sure the question asker would not ask such a simple question and was referring to the following definition: A four point game is when two teams are playing each other from the same division and are very close to each other in the standings and the outcome will be critical in each teams seasons outcome. As the losing team will lose the opportunity to gain two points and the winning team will gain two points, the difference in "potential"points is four, thus a four point game. It is only used in Ice Hockey circles for unknown reasons. All ice hockey commentators would announce "Its a four point game tonight" whenever two teams were in such a tight race.
