The most successful Olympics was Los Angeles in 1984, where NZ won eight gold medals (and a total of 11) and finished 8th on the medal table. However, since these Olympics were boycotted by the USSR and the GDR among other nations this total was arguably inflated.

The most successful other than this was Seoul in 1988 where 13 medals (including 3 gold) were won.

As of the 2008 Games, New Zealand has won the most medals in athletics (17 medals). Athletics is also the discipline New Zealand has won the most gold medals (8 gold medals). New Zealand has won 15 medals in Sailing and 13 medals in Rowing.

Silver Medal 1996 in Atlanta

Bronze medal 2000 in Sydney

In the Winter Olympics, Annelise Coberger has won the most with a silver medal in 1992 in slalom skiing

As of the 2008 Games, that would be athletics with 17 (8 gold, 1 silver, 8 bronze), sailing at 15 (6 gold, 4 silver, 5 bronze), and rowing with 13 (5 gold, 2 silver, 6 bronze). Through events on 17 August at the 2008 Games, New Zealand has won 5 medals (3 rowing, 1 athletics, 1 cycling). Currently, the totals would be athletics 18 (9,1,8), rowing 16 (6,2,8), and sailing still at 15.
