James "Jim" Fullington (aka Sandman) who was born June 16, 1963 in Sandy, Utah was released from WWE on September 11,2007. During a tour of South Africa he got into some type of argument with a road agent. Shortly after he was asking to be released from his contract. WWE agreed to release him.

he was running from cops when he fell in a pit with sand and they fired up a machine and it was spinning so fast he couldn't escape and it turned him into sandman this is wrong....the sandman got his powers when he was lying down on the beach. Then, steam reactors blew up bombarding him with radioactivity. This made him bond with the sand, thus, turning him into the Sandman. I don't know about comics, but in the movie, he was running from the cops and fell into a pit of sand, which was actually a part of a sand mutation experiment. Then the machine fired, and with him still in there, the sand mutated and mutated him as well. In the MOVIE. I don't know about comics or anywhere else.
