Depends on the player's position and his current state of fitness.
Goalkeepers need intense strength training and very little stamina training. Leg strength (weight machine or dumbell elevation), abdominal strength (crunches, both regular and lateral) and explosive speed training (with a drag inertia reel).
Central players (centre back, centre midfielder and striker) need a lot of strength and stamina: backs and strikers need elevation power (leg and abdominal muscle training) and central midfielders need resistance and balance to keep the ball (standing on a long board on top of a wide pipe while being thrown a heavy ball) and lots of elliptical crosstrainer time for all 3.
Wing players need speed and stamina. Drag reel and elliptical crosstrainer for both wingbacks and wingforwards.
