Air Force is a member of the Mountain West Conference. Unlike the other military force teams who are FBS independants (Navy,Army) Air Force decided to join a conference and have a semi-locked schedule year in and year out. The military uses their teams to market themselves to prospective recruits and so it helps Navy and Army move around the country from year to year rather than stay in the same region all year. On another note Coast Guard another military force team has division three program which they have joined the NEFC and have a set schedule.
