in gymnastics you offten have to do splits. weather this is on the ground or in the air in a leap. in a stag you are in a split with your legs spread at a 180 degree angle with your knees bent. the front leg is bent down and the back leg is bent up. but be careful because is you are a competitive gymnast they will deduct you for not having a 180 split. a good drill for this is to do your splits with your back leg bent up and proped up against a wall so it will not throw you off balance. another good drill is to do hip flexers. hip flexers is when you are kneeling on your knees with one leg (your good one) in front of you, push your hip down. this motion will make your hips move forward. make sure to always keep the front foot in front of the front knee while pushing on your hip, because other wise it could cause knee problems
