It is difficult to put an exact number on how much a thoroughbred horse costs, because there are so many different types of horses that are worth different values. If a horse is believed to be good for racing or showing their value is increased dramatically.

Racehorses from champion lines often go for millions of dollars.
TBs bred for sports like eventing and show jumping can go for tens of thousands of dollars.
A TB with no special breeding and/or bad conformation will sell for cheap.
Also how many races(if they raced), they won.
What sort of things they have done i.e. jumping, dressage after there racing life!!!! :)
