King Fu actually means "lucky work" roughly translated. When asked by foreigners what they were doing when they practiced their art the Chinese always said kung fu. Thus the name stuck. It is a broad name describing many Chinese martial art forms. It's best meaning refers to doing the work. King fu takes work. It would be like telling someone you are "working out."
