An earthquake, known as the Loma Priata earthquake, hit the San Francisco area, including Candlestick Park, at 5:04 PM which was 11 minutes before the scheduled start of the game. The Series was delayed for 10 days and resumed on the 27th. The A's won the game on the 27th and the game on the 28th to clinch the Series.
