Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists was created in 1878.
Texas A&M joined the Southwest Conference in 1915 and was a member until it disbanded in 1995.
The Southwest Conference ran in Texas from 1914 to 1996.

The University of Texas, along with Baylor, Texas A&M and Texas Tech, all left the Southwest Conference and joined the newly-formed Big 12 Conference in 1996.
Four of the former Southwest Conference teams joined the Big 12: Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor and Texas University.
Kansas split the 2006 Big 12 Conference Title with the Texas Longhorns.
Southwest Conference. Arkansas left the Southwest Conference to join the SEC for the 1992 season.
Nebraska is in the Big 12 North. Texas and Texas A & M are in the Big 12 South.
The Big 12 Conference was established in 1996 from the former schools of the Big 8 Conference and four schools from Texas that were in the disbanded Southwestern Conference.
