Cordero signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners prior to the 2009 season. He has played for the Mariners of the Arizona League and currently (August 29, 2009) pitches for the Everett AquaSox of the Northwest League.
Cordero suffered a torn labrum in his pitching shoulder and underwent surgery in July, 2008. He pitched his first game for the Mariners of the Arizona league in July, 2009 and has recently been throwing in the mid 80s. He believes he is on the road back to the majors, although that certainly won't happen in 2009.
