One of the disadvantages of playing Rugby is that there is almost a 100% chance that you will be injured in a game. Without pads and with the same tackling skills and expectations as American Football, you can imagine what kind of strain your body goes through and along with that, the increase in hospital bills.
As to other disadvantages. I don't necessarily know if everyone would consider it a disadvantage but I do. When you play a Rugby game, your adrenaline is pumping and you start hating the opposite team, they are you enemies and you are to take them out, of course by legally tackling them. However, with your adrenaline pumping as hard as it does, you start to get angry with that other team mate that you are covering and sometimes it leads to a real, illegal, fight.
